Frequently Asked Questions . . .
➢ Are you available evenings and weekends?
I have evening and weekend appointments (some day appointments negotiable) available
➢ Do you take my insurance?
I am not currently listed on insurance company panels, but sliding scale fees are offered to those that qualify. Some healthcare plans cover a percentage of out-of-network therapy with limited sessions per year.
➢ Isn’t psychotherapy just giving advice?
Psychotherapy involves the exploration of interpersonal relationships, and the role that our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors play in achieving a more satisfying and productive life. As your therapist, my role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental place to begin this exploration, and to provide new skills and insights that will help you on your journey.
➢ I’ve been in therapy before, why should I return?
Sometimes when we approach problems at a later point in our lives, we are able to deal with them more effectively. Often the passage of time brings a different perspective, one which may have been lacking during previous therapy.
➢ What if I’ve had a negative experience in past therapy, how do I know this won’t happen again?
Like other professionals, therapists and counselors vary widely in style and approach. Therapy is often a matter of matching a client with the right therapist at the right time. If for some reason a past therapy experience was unsatisfying, perhaps this may be the right time to try again.
