Gayle Vaniman, LMFT

Gayle Vaniman, LMFT➢ I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 15 years experience. My role is to help you gain greater insight into how ingrained ways of thinking and feeling can often lead to undesirable behaviors and dissatisfaction in life. I offer a safe and supportive environment in which you can learn to break these ineffective patterns, and to help you resolve the deeper issues that may be preventing you from living a more satisfying and meaningful life.

➢ I provide therapy to people of all ages and stages of life, with an expertise in relationships, life transitions, past or present trauma, and working with the severely mentally ill and their families. My approach to therapy is to treat each client as an individual, adapting each therapy session to fit the client, rather than using a “one-size-fits-all” method.

➢ Therapy often brings to the surface issues related to culture, spirituality, and philosophy, inherited from childhood and seldom questioned. These issues can emerge as a source of conflict, or develop into a well of inspiration and creativity. I believe it is important to help clients bring a sense of harmony between their long-held assumptions and beliefs, and their current values and hopes for the future.

➢ I earned my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. My diverse background includes work with adolescents in foster care and group homes, families in transitional care, behavioral care and treatment of developmentally disabled adults, and psychotherapy with severely mentally ill adults. I employ a wide range of therapeutic techniques, including short-term cognitive-behavioral, gestalt, and person-centered therapies with individuals, couples, and families.

➢ I’m a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the Santa Clara Valley Chapter – CAMFT (SCV-CAMFT), and am a certified process therapist from the Process Therapy Institute (PTI).
